Therapy for LGBTQIA+ folx

Welcome to a queer affirming therapy space where you can be exactly who you are

Therapy shouldn’t be one more space in the world where you have to hide your thoughts and feelings for fear of judgment from others. You are unique and have your own history and struggles, and you deserve a therapist who will be present with you through it all. It can be difficult to find a good fit for a therapist, especially in the Midwest. But maybe you just did : )

All gender identities, sexualities, and relationship types and systems are welcome at Creating Balance. Whatever life experiences you have had and whatever identities you claim, you are welcome and safe in our therapy space. You don’t have to go through this alone anymore. Therapy for LGBTQIA+ people-what can I accomplish?

As queer folx, you are always aware of others around you and how they might react to you just existing. While that’s incredibly unjust and can be scary (especially in our current culture), how great might it feel to find one more place where you can just be yourself? And where you can explore your concerns without everyone knowing your business?

  • Therapy is a place to talk about all aspects of your life without fear of retribution or judgment.
  • Often, queer folx experience high levels of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and a continued exploration of sexual identity. Sexuality is, after all, a fluid spectrum. Therapy can be a place to process the emotions that emerge and help you find different ways to work through your thoughts and feelings.
  • Therapy can also help you work on your boundaries so you are able to focus your energy on the positive relationships and things in your life. There will always be toxic people and situations, and while complete ignorance isn’t a good choice, neither is dwelling solely on things you cannot control. Healthy boundaries can help you find a better balance between the highs and lows.
  • We can also explore productive self-care that helps you appreciate yourself and remember that you are worth it.

While your found family and friends are likely awesome, they aren’t therapists, and they can’t be unbiased. Maybe it’s time to reach out to a professional therapist and get an outside opinion from someone who is focused on you and your progress.
